Singing His word together, united in harmony!
The Adult Choir sings to support our traditional liturgy for the 11:00am Service of Holy Eucharist Rite II September through June. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Katy and David Smith Choir Room which is in the 3rd floor music suite.
New members are welcome any time of the year. Whether you are new to All Saints or have been here for 20 years, adults of all musical skill levels and experience are invited to explore singing in the choir to see if this is a ministry to which you feel called.
The Adult Choir includes singers in their 20's through their 80's who represent a wide range of musical expertise from novice to professional. Although most are volunteers, we typically have a few choral scholars who provide professional-level support and leadership in some sections. The choir sings a variety of anthems chosen from the richest tradition of choral music from the early sacred music and Renaissance periods all the way through music from today’s most highly regarded church music composers. The depth of the anthems reflects the depth of the Episcopal liturgy that we sing to enhance.
The choir year begins with Choir Camp which is the last weekend in August at Camp McDowell, the church camp of the Diocese of Alabama. The choir bonds in the beauty of God’s Backyard and rehearses anthems for the fall semester. In early fall, the choir puts on an annual fundraiser for the Music Fund–the Choir BBQ. The 'Music Fund' helps us hire additional instrumentalists for Christmas and Easter, purchase even more wonderful choral anthems for the choir, and fund occasional special events such as a major choral work with orchestra. If you wish to support music in this way, you can make a donation to the 'Music Fund' through our online giving option.

Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter are particularly fulfilling times for the choir, which plays an integral role in all of these services. We also celebrate together at the Choir Christmas Party, the Choir Easter Brunch, and the End of the Year Choir Pool Party. Not only does the choir love to sing, but we love to play! And, as importantly as singing and playing together, the choir loves being together as a community bonded in Christian love.
The choir cares for and accepts each other as we want to be cared for and accepted in the world around us. We strive for every rehearsal and every service to offer a glimpse of heaven through our mutual love of God, music, and each other using the example of the life of Jesus as our guide.
