Guest Preacher Kelley Hudlow

All Saints will have a guest preacher, The Rev. Kelley Hudlow, this Sunday, January 29th for our morning services.

The Rev. Kelley Hudlow is a preacher, storyteller, and occasional printmaker. She serves as the Canon for Vocations and Community Engagement for the Diocese of Alabama. In this role, Kelley works with people in formation for ordination and lay leaders, directs the diocesan local ministry school, and identifies and develops continuing education offerings for clergy. She also works to support our diocesan community ministries, including Sawyerville and racial healing pilgrimages. Prior to working for the church full time, Kelley was a trial attorney and a director of a legal clinic at The University of Alabama School of Law. She served as the Lead Documentarian for the Alabama state committee of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. Currently, Kelley is an itinerant preacher, traveling to churches without regular clergy.

Kelley has a BA in History and a juris doctorate. Her more recent studies include a certificate from the David G. Buttrick Certificate Program in Homiletic Peer Coaching through Vanderbilt Divinity School, a Teach Leadership Certificate through the Kansas Leadership Center, and a Master of Arts in Theopoetics (focusing on writing and preaching) that is in progress through Bethany Theological Seminary.

Kelley lives in Avondale with her wife, Dr. Shanti Weiland (a poet and English professor) and their menagerie: Lucy (a beagle), Julien (an orange cat), and Brother Juniper (a corgi). You can follow Kelley’s travels at www.notoriouslyepiscopalian.com.

Contemplative Outreach Birmingham is honored to host Rev. Dr. Stuart Higginbotham for a one-day contemplative conference on *Poetic Imagination and the Consent to the Divine Presence*. The conference will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025 , from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church. The cost is $70 by credit card or $65 by check, with lunch included. Registration is required. Toward the end of his life, Fr. Thomas Keating turned to poetry to express his deepest awareness of the Divine Presence. His poems serve both as a personal testament to his spiritual journey and as a teaching tool for others to explore in their own practice. Understanding why Fr. Thomas embraced poetry at that stage of his life offers valuable insights into his spiritual wisdom. The Rev. Dr. Stuart Higginbotham is an Episcopal priest and serves as rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Georgia. He is also Assistant Professor in the Practice of Spiritual Formation and Ministry at Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
