As you may have already heard, we are beginning a project to open up our narthex space (between the Nave and doors) and improve the lighting there, with the goal of making it more inviting and welcoming. This is basically a refresh of the space, which has not been updated in more than thirty years. Work will include removal of the built-in cabinet and enhancement of the lighting, The wall color and finish will remain the same. Flooring will remain the same; we already have the tile that will be needed, left over from the original installation. The ceiling tile will be replaced with a flat, coffered ceiling much like the ceiling in the chapel.
Funding has come from contributions explicitly designated for this project. This is not being funded from the annual operating budget.
Work will be done by ELM Construction (owned by parishioner Elliott Pike) and is scheduled to begin September 30 and be completed in November. Access to the front doors and narthex on Sundays and other service times (e.g., weddings) should not be affected by construction.
Renderings are available to review in the Office Foyer. Individuals will be available to answer questions after each worship service on
Sunday, September 29. Questions may also be directed to Andrew Edwards,
bhamedwards1@charter.net.
